The Old Whaling Station Historic Adobe

Monterey, California

Old Whaling Station Ceremony

The Old Whaling Station Back Patio

The Old Whaling Station Adobe and Garden was built in 1847 by Scottish adventurer David Wight and soon after became the headquarters for the Old Monterey Whaling Company.  This site is 50 yards from Fisherman’s Wharf and the Bay. Its gardens are lovely year round and the brick patios accommodate up to 100 guests comfortably for a seated, out door event.  Inside are two stories of authentic early California living with 2 upstairs bedrooms that are perfect for a bride’s changing room and a grooms changing room. It has 2 private bathrooms.

This is one of our favorite sites for many reasons: It includes all guest tables and white wooden chairs for up to 100 people. It is surrounded by manicured gardens.; It has a claw-footed bath tub upstairs. No dance floor needed. Parking is situated over a bridge in a secure parking garage 150 feet away. It is surrounded by many hotels (Marriott. Portola Plaza. Hotel Pacific.) and main street (Alvarado St.) is only a 4 minute walk away, both being very convenient when your wedding/event concludes and you fancy to either walk to your bedroom or walk to the bars to continue partying in your gown and tux. All of this for a price less than $1800 for the whole day!

Because we've catered and loved the Old Whaling Station for many years, we have been rewarded by being the exclusive caterer of this Junior-league of Monterey ran establishment starting in 2008. Call us for availability.
